This is what the Tuscan Leather Consortium says about their product: "The Genuine Italian Vegetable-Tanned Consortium is in the Tuscan Leather District, high quality vegetable-tanned leather - the renown Vacchetta, is still produced according to ancient methods...naturally produced vegetable-tanned leather absorbs the traces of our life, it matures without ruining. The natural aging does not compromise its resistance. It reveals the signs of time and use as the most personal expression of naturalness and truth. The colors of tannins give the leather an unmistakable warm and brilliant shade that becomes more intense with the passing of time and the daily use."
Until I discovered Italian Leather I believed high quality bags came from high-end designers that sold status, with gargantuan logos at gargantuan prices... Then we moved to Italy.
Luscious Italy, overflowing with it's foods, wine, sunshine and traditions. Everything it seems, is infused with passion. It is intoxicating! I watched Italian women (graceful even over cobblestone streets!) with their natural beauty and exuberance, and noticed almost all of them had a beautiful leather bag. I wanted one! So, I embarked on a mission. Italian leather, I learned, is esteemed worldwide as naturally produced, environmentally friendly and non chemically processed. It's beautiful leather of the highest long lasting quality- however, it's not inexpensive. It took me two years living in Italy to find the perfect quality, price, and ageless style. I finally stumbled upon a small family owned artisan workshop, and discovered that quality leather bags can be affordable.
Now, after returning home, friends and family have asked me to share the treasure. I started PaisleyFish to bring you the experience of finding a little piece of Italy in a wonderful Italian leather bag made by traditional artisans. You'll find bags, purses, and wallets hand crafted for you, in the hill covered province of Tuscany, with leather from the Genuine Italian Vegetable-Tanned Consortium. These bags are made in small family owned workshops, they have history, and will become even more beautiful with time. I love them and I know you will too.
